The Influence of Obama’s Church with Rev Wright

Commentary by an Obama Who ? team member,

Last night I sat and did a lot of thinking about influence.  I had to admit to myself that one of the greatest influences in my life was my church.  I think it is for most people, our values and belief systems are something which helps to shape us to be who we are.

How could Obama not be shaped by his church?  He says he distances himself from some of the comments that his radical preacher Rev Jeremiah Wright has made. But the fact of the matter is, Obama does buy into the remarks, he follows the teachings of his church. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright is a man Obama admires and even has been inspired by.  Obama gives this Jeremiah Wright credit for the inspiration to write his second book Audacity of Hope based on a sermon the man gave.

When a minister gets up in front of a crowd and tells the black man not to sing “God Bless America” to instead sing “God Damn America” we as Americans should not take notice?  Michelle Obama has said twice that for the first time in her adult life she is proud of her country?  She is a member of this church also and their children go here.  Ok, this is painting a very grim picture here.

Does Obama, like his wife feel that he is not proud of this country?  I have seen many pictures where he does not salute the flag, where he does not wear the flag pin for 911, where he does not recite the Pledge of Allegiance. He has just recently started ending his speeches like Hillary does by saying God bless.  He keeps stating he is not Muslim (and that is ok in my book as I do not think being Muslim is a bad thing unless you are a radical Muslim,) but then what exactly is he?  He sure is not out here and telling any one now is he?

What kind of a church preaches the word of God peppered with hatred of America?  What kind of a church speaks with hatred of people and then calls one of its own members the Messiah?  What ideologies does Obama believe?  People we are voting for a man for President we know nothing about.  Obama does not come forward, he hides behind his campaign.  He does not address these issues, he hides behind his campaign again, he puts out a public image for the world but who is the man behind the mask?  What exactly does Obama think, feel and want for this country?

This man, Obama is a made up person, a public image put out here and run by a political machine behind him.  He address nothing, he does not answer questions, he pulls the race card at every turn so much that voters are leaving him because of it. Obama hides and just gives speeches.  He copies everything Hillary does, mimics her at every turn and tries to take credit for everything he has not done.  His voting record is terrible, he has accomplished nothing in the Senate and no one can say anything he has accomplished when asked.

People, I am not going to bash Obama here, he does a good enough job of this himself. I am just asking a question.  Who is he???  He has no record to speak of, his church hates America, he hangs out with terrorists for friends like Averys and gangsters like Rezko. He is linked to scandals all over the place.  Why isn’t America in an uproar over the fact that this man is in the Presidential primaries?  Why isn’t McCain outraged and refusing to debate him?  The Republicans will eat this man alive and he will be as easy to take down in an election as peeling a banana.

I don’t know about the rest of you but watching this video of his pastor made me sick.  Unlike Michelle Obama, I am proud of this country and Love America.  That flag we display means something to me. I do salute it and with pride.  I honor the men and women who have fought in the wars and I mourn the victims of 9/11.  This is MY country, a country which I can raise my children with freedom and not oppression, a country which allows me freedom of speech (unless you say something about Obama that is) and a country which allows me to reach my full potential and be what ever I want to be to the best of my abilities.  I resent this man’s remarks about damming America, I resent the way he has trashed a former President of the United States. I find his remarks to be disgusting and humiliating to this great country.   If he hates America so badly then go live in Africa where his heart is and take his trash mouth and guttural behavior with him.  As for me I say, OBAMA WHO ??? and GOD BLESS AMERICA and God damn those who live here and don’t bless this great country. You hate this country so much then get out of it.  Our men and women in uniform over there fighting to keep us safe deserve a hell of a lot better than these kinds of remarks from Obama’s preacher.

You are so on target here. Excellent article and well said. Obamie needs to get his act together and for the good of this country drop out and step down.

So I seen Obama on Hannity and Obama refused to say he would leave this church and even defended the Rev. Wright. So apparently he is all for this man’s comments even though he lied and said he has NEVER heard any of them, ya right….it would take a moron to believe this.

I am absolutely appalled by this peacher’s words! They are definitely racist as well as unpatriotic. I think we all criticize our country now and then but to say the kinds of things he is saying is deplorable. Obama is trying to distance himself now from the preacher because it is hurting his election chances but the fact is that this preacher has said much MORE and even worse over the years than the little we have seen reported. The attitudes his words reflect do not support love and tolerance. How could Obama become so friendly with this man over the years?

  4. Donna Says:

Obama has condemned the pastor’s words but not his ministry, according to the news. Of course, he would have He denounce his pastor’s inflammatory remarks if he hopes to continue to try to win the election. Obama manages to say what he needs to say and explain away what doesn’t fit his Presidential image. However, not everyone is captivated by his speeches and promises. Those of us who want substance can see where the discrepancies exist….Obama’s stories and explanations just do not match the realities. For example, Obama’s pastor’s words have been a part of what he has been saying publicly for years and his church gave a lifetime achiievement award to Louis Farrakhan. Ultimately, actions speak louder than words.

Oh OK I see how it is. I’m now supposed to ignore chapter 14 in his book “Dreams From My Father”. Got it.

  6. Jo Says:

How dare this Rev Wright say G.D in a church! And to be standing at the alter humping like a dog? Obama and his Rev are disgusting. I will not vote for anyone who follows this type of teaching in church.

  7. Paul Says:

Mr. Obama’s actions and relationships need to be investigated further just like any other candidate. It disturbs me that he could attend a church where the pastor is allowed to make inflamatory remarks about the US and also about “white people” and the church gives awards to people like Louis Farrakkhan. We really need a President who thinks more highly of the US and ALL of its people regardless of race or culture, talks more about solutions than criticisms, and surrounds himself with people who share the same attitudes and positive beliefs.

  8. Pamela Says:

I love this article! You speak your mind and I could not agree more. The man is a racist, hates America and he is a man Obama admires? This makes me sick. To exhibit this type of behavior in church? I agree with Jo, humping like a dog in church is just so not proper.

Opppps, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright is a mistake, Opppp, Resko is a mistake, Oooooooops, hangingg around with a known terrorist Averys is a mistake, Ooooooooops I pushed the wrong button 6 times while I voted in the Senate, Oooooops, Michelle did not mean she is proud of this country for the first time, ooooops, Michelle did not mean she really wants to scratch out Bill Clintons eyes, oooooops, there was not really a NAFTAGATE, ooooops yes there was but it was not the way ti seemed, ooooops I did not know the reverend talks like this, oooops and oooops and oooops. Come on this guy has more dirt on him than some guys in jail do. Think about the ooooops!

  10. Elizabeth Says:

Gee he was tamer when people thought he was a muslim.

  11. Shirley J DeMay Says:

Go to New York Times. Read about more than 10,000 people who were present at that infamous sermon of Rev. Wright. While the Reverend was preaching, Obama had many campaign members handing out flyers, campaigning for him on the church grounds. Are we to believe that none of his campaign members told him of this horrendous bashing of the U.S.A. and its other than black citizens? Twin Towers was a melting pot of many different races. Wright sounds more like a Black Terrorist that hates any race other than his own. Bad choice for a mentor Barack.

  12. Anne M McLaughlin Says:

How can any man countenance exposing his beloved children Sunday
after sunday to what amounts to rabid bigotry ? Obviously their
mother has made it abundantly clear that she has internalized the
hateful rhetoric of her husbands mentor. What kind of american
would vote for such a man ? Our Motto ” E Pluribus Unum ” on 9/11
united all of us for we were truly then ” One Out of Many ” thats a
far cry from Mr.Wright”s call to “GOD DAMN AMERICA ”

    Mac

  13. Michelle Says:

I am very saddened by Mr. Wrights words. And to call himself a prophet.
He is just full of hate and anger, and is causing more bad than good.
He needs to step down and leave this country if he hates it so bad.
